Learn to Lift is a one-time, 90-minute small-group workshop designed to help you feel confident walking into any of our classes at Homegrown Fitness. You’ll learn the fundamentals of lifting in a supportive, hands-on environment—no experience required.
Whether you’re brand new, returning after time away, or just want a solid refresher, we’ll walk you through everything step-by-step. You’ll leave feeling capable, safe, and ready to train.
WHAT’S INCLUDED IN YOUR 90-MINUTE WORKSHOP:
Welcome & Orientation: Meet your instructor, set your goals, and know exactly what to expect.
Strength Training 101: Learn the basics of lifting, how to choose weights, and get familiar with all the equipment we have at the gym.
Core Lifts in Action: Hands-on practice of the five main movements—squat, hinge, push, pull, and press—with tips, variations, and form fixes.
Mini Circuit Workout: Put it all together in a fun, supportive circuit with the main lifts plus some bonus core specific exercises.
Cool Down & Check-In: Stretch, reflect, and ask questions before wrapping up.
Next Steps: Learn how to keep building strength at Homegrown Fitness through classes, memberships, or personal training.

Not at all. This workshop is truly beginner-friendly. We start with the basics and build from there.

Totally normal - and honestly, one of the biggest reasons we created this workshop. You’ll be learning in a small group of people who feel exactly the same way.

We intentionally keep group size small so you get real coaching and lots of individual attention. Groups will be capped at 8.

You’ll lift! We cover the essentials, then practice the major movements with guidance every step of the way.

We’ll work with you. Every movement has options and variations. You’ll never be pushed to do something that doesn’t feel right.

Both can benefit - newer lifters get a solid foundation, and more experienced folks often pick up technique tweaks and confidence with equipment.

Comfy clothes you can move in, running or training shoes, and a water bottle. We provide everything else.

Yes! That’s the whole goal. By the end, you’ll know how to set up equipment, understand the main movement patterns, and feel ready to jump into classes like Signature Strength or Strength circuit.
